Botanical

The botanicals are my slower, more patient work — a single stem, a few blooms, given more time than I usually have in me. I think they come from my mum, who kept things growing in pots no matter how grey it got outside; there’s something quietly hopeful about a flower in a northern winter. I keep them uncluttered: one subject, room to breathe, nothing shouting for attention. These are the pieces people tell me end up in bedrooms and hallways — the calm corners of a home. I like that. They’re meant to be lived with, not just looked at.
